My kids went back to school this week and we’re re-establishing some sort of a routine. It’s nice to have some structure back in our days!

We had a really mild winter break but this week started off freezing cold and that always makes me lazier with outfits. But, instead of sacrificing style for comfort this winter, which I’m prone to do when it’s really cold, I’m really trying to strive for both. I may be wishing for March to get here but I know that it’s a long way off, so I’m going to just lean into it!

I’ve also incorporated a few of my lesser worn items this week, which is a new wardrobe goal:

I don’t have to get rid of everything, but I do have to wear it all!

To the low/no buy club - we’re almost 2 weeks in! Congratulations! You are amazing and I’m so inspired by you!

Head on over to the community chat and celebrate if you haven’t already…

Housekeeping:

The first 3 outfits are available to everyone while all 7 outfits + any outfit fails of the week are exclusive to paying members of the community.

If you are finding value in my newsletters and would like to support my work, you can become a paid member of the community for $5 per month (an annual subscription for $50 gets you 2 months free).

Outfit Rating System:

Comfort - Was I too hot or cold? Did it fit me properly? Did I have to adjust any of the items constantly?

Style - Did I feel stylish in the outfit? Did it feel like a “me” outfit, or was there something about it that was off?

Fun - Did I try something new? Was I really excited about the outfit, or was I bored by the outfit?

* I haven’t been adding the brands of the items that I’ve been wearing lately - most of the clothes I own are preloved or old and it is never my intent to encourage you to shop, unless it’s your own wardrobe - I STRONGLY encourage that!

If you find some inspiration in these outfits to try something new with the clothes that you already own, please let me know because it really just makes my day!

Sunday

This was actually the last outfit that I tried on for Phase 2 of my decision-making process for the first purchase of my low buy year. I liked it so much that I just kept it on for the rest of the day!

I paired my “Kaya” sweater with this cotton poplin skirt that used to be a dress that I made into a matching set - the dress was too big and I never wore it and I’ve since gotten rid of the top because I also never wore it.

Oddly enough, I tend to wear this skirt more in the winter - I think it’s because the waistband is too thin and I like to hide it under stuff - I really wish I hadn’t decided on the matching set and would have just made a longer skirt with a thicker waistband but live and learn, I guess! Maybe I’ll get some white poplin material someday and add some length at the top and the wider waistband!

Are you sick of seeing these boots by now? 😆 Seriously though, I just love them so much. And this coat, which is another staple, was perfect for the cold weather. I did add my silver handbag even though I have big pockets in my coat because I want to make sure that I’m actually wearing my handbags if I’m going to be keeping them.

Comfort - 10/10; Style - 10/10; Fun - 8/10.

Monday

Monday is a home day for me. This is the day that I get all the laundry done and whatever household tasks need taking care of. This is also a day that I sit around a write all day, in between the other bits.

I did school drop-off in leggings and after a workout, I swapped them out for these black pants, which have quite a bit of stretch - elevated leggings, if you will! I though about changing out of my hoodie, but decided against it. I added my suede clogs because I won’t be wearing them outside anything soon and they’re basically elevated slippers.

When I did have to run a few errands and do school pick-up, I added my checkered wool coat and my platform rain/snow boots. I had this fleeting thought recently that I might be sick of this coat, but it’s one of those items that I’ve truly loved for years and I know that feeling will return again.

Comfort - 10/10; Style - 10/10; Fun - 7/10.

Tuesday

Check on check?

I wanted to try wearing a sweater over a shirt this day because I hadn’t done that in years and it seemed like it would be fun - but sometimes, outfits don’t go to plan and you have to make some changes.

I kept the checkered shirt (over a black tank top) which I had paired with my old black Agolde jeans and a pair of old Frye harness boots. I think I got these around 2016 and I don’t wear them as much as my other Frye boots but I love them with jeans. All of my Frye boots, including my most recent addition are harness boots - I obviously have a type 😆

I thought I’d go all in on the checkered pattern today with a vintage silk blazer and my wool checkered coat and I love how everything worked together. Can you believe that I had once considered altering this blazer into a bustier top?!? I’m really glad I didn’t because I just know I would have regretted it!

I felt really great in this outfit - I am finding that I like wearing more structured outfits - a crisp cotton shirt and a blazer feels like my superhero costume!

Comfort - 10/10; Style - 10/10; Fun - 10/10.
