I absolutely love this post. I can talk all day about style and clothes but I get that deep down excitement buzz when people start talking about colour. The combinations you show are so beautiful. I am a long time wearer of black, brown, cream and dabbled a bit with pink and green last summer. I have been imagining green and brown together a lot lately and been thinking about how I could wear it. I like how you added cream to the combo and think this might be the missing element I need to make it work. Another striking combo from your post I now plan to try more intentionally is black, brown, blue. It looks stunning, especially the intensity of the blue striped shirt.
I’m so glad that you enjoyed it, Rach! I’ve never really thought too much about color, having mostly defaulted to black or dark colors in the past but now that I’m intentionally considering the colors that I like to wear, I feel very excited about different combos! I’m loving the brown/green/cream combo so much right now (I mostly do cream tshirt/green pants/brown ballet flats + handbag). I’d love to hear back if you incorporate the black/brown/blue combo 💙
I love this! I feel really inspired to play around with these colours in my own wardrobe. Have you done other posts about colour combinations? I'd be so keen to read more like this!
Oooh I love it when a purchase unlocks something like those brown flats did for you!! What a win. And thanks for sharing the piece about your hair—I’ve always wondered but I guess never felt ok to ask if it was your natural color 😅 it does look very natural (and beautiful!) on you
They’ve really become a wardrobe staple for me! And I agree - I’m so happy how they’ve expanded my wardrobe in new ways. And I’m glad that I answered your curiosity about my hair ☺️
This is such a fun way of thinking about your wardrobe! I might need to go through mine and see if there are any trends. I especially love that you were inspired to make new combos by shuffling the combos you already had.
Thanks, Terra - it was a really fun newsletter to write! I'd love to hear about any trends that you noticed with your own wardrobe - I love how we can think about what we own a little differently and unlock new wardrobe potential!
I cannot get over the admonition to never wear black and navy, much as I try to! But I am really loving the idea of dark brown as an alternative neutral, and wear my brown mules all the time.
My favourite colour combination to wear right now is olive pants and a dark turquoise or teal or emerald top. I think I probably gravitate to colours that sit close to each other on the wheel.
Brown/green/cream is definitely one of my go to combos, especially for summer. I'm exited to style black/cream/brown for winter - quite neutral but still fun to play with.
I can definitely see why - it's so lovely and one that I'm excited to wear more! And I can't wait to see how you style black/cream/brown for winter - just changing out one color from green to black and keeping the other 2 the same makes it feel fresh and new, even without the addition of anything new!
Gillian! I was so excited about your newsletter and pleasantly surprised to see my post referenced in it! Thank you for that.
I am really excited about mimicking your brown/cream/black outfit. I too was told not to wear black and brown together and it has been a tough habit to break, but it’s actually such a lovely pairing. I am also enamored of the brown/green/cream combination; it’s soothing and lovely, and now that you described it as looking up to the clouds ⛅️ through the trees 🌲i cannot get that lovely image out of my mind (nor do I want to.) Off to Indyx to try these combos. Thank you for the inspiration!
I'm so glad that you enjoyed it, Annette! I hope you have fun in your closet and I'd love to hear about any color combinations that you came up with or tried, and loved.

Thanks Isheeka, I’m glad that you enjoyed it. I think this is the first post that I’ve done about color but it definitely won’t be the last!
Oh my gosh, thank you so much for the shout-out, Gillian!💕
I love all of these beautiful colour combinations and brava on spotting the potential for future combinations. They’re going to look amazing.
Jazzy is so cute.
Of course, I always love reading your posts! And I agree, Jazzy is such a cutie 🥰

Absolutely! Always looking for new ways to look at what I have!

I also find the navy/black combo to be more difficult to wear, although I can pair a black top with a dark wash denim and I like that.
That color combo feels so mediterranean and perfect for summer! Will you bring those colors over into fall/winter?
I agree with you - black and dark denim is a winner. To be honest, my colours don’t really change season to season!
Love the brown purse with top handles and crossbody straps. Do you have a link? Thank you!
It's a vintage Coach 9991 Lunchbox handbag. Unfortunately, I don't have a link but there are quite a few in the online secondhand market.

I'm glad that you enjoyed it Danielle, and I was constantly thinking about your newsletter while I was writing this - such a good color combo!
I'm glad that you're getting over your fear of wearing black and brown together too - we'll do it together 😆
Oh, man this is good. Now I’m ready to go play in my closet to see what I can put together!
I'm so glad that you enjoyed it, Annette! I hope you have fun in your closet and I'd love to hear about any color combinations that you came up with or tried, and loved.
