The outfit diary series is a weekly series where I share every outfit that I’ve worn that week, as a way for me to document my wardrobe, but also to provide you with styling ideas for your own wardrobe so that you can find wardrobe contentment without shopping. The first 3 outfits are available for everyone but to gain access to all of the outfits, plus quarterly analysis posts, please consider supporting my newsletter ($5/month or an annual membership of $50 gets you 2 months free). Thank you!

Sunday

Vintage Bagatelle suede jacket*, Vince mockneck sweater*, Citizens of Humanity jeans*, vintage earrings*, Frye boots

We have been experiencing more warm days lately, but not enough that I’m ready to switch over from my cold weather capsule to a warm weather one. Luckily, I have some colorful jackets in my wardrobe that I can use instead of having to wear my heavier wool or puffer ones.

I started off with a sheer-ish wool mockneck sweater and a pair of slim jeans - an outfit combination that I had worn the day before under a grey silk slip dress. I added my black moto boots and a vintage western belt, a usual companion to the boots. I really wanted to add some color so I went for my vintage purple suede coat.

I love this coat so much - I call it my Barney coat 😆

I added a pair of silver hoop earrings that I bought at an antique shop once and I was good to go.

Hot tip - buy all of your jewelry at antique shops that sell gold and silver! You get quality items (not plated) for much cheaper than modern stuff that isn’t real gold or silver!

Comfort - 10/10; Style - 10/10; Fun - 10/10 - I think the color of the coat ups the fun factor of this outfit!

Outfit Rating System:

Comfort - Was I too hot or cold? Did it fit me properly? Did I have to adjust any of the items constantly?
Style - Did I feel stylish in the outfit? Did it feel like a “me” outfit, or was there something about it that was off?
Fun - Did I try something new? Was I really excited about the outfit, or was I bored by the outfit?

Monday

Vuori shirt, memade M7969 dress, Frye boots

When I had bought the vintage tablecloth that I ended up making this dress from, I had originally purchased it to make a prairie style skirt. It was only after realizing how big the tablecloth truly was that I decided to use it to make a dress, giving me the best of both worlds - a beautiful dress that I could make look like a skirt with the right layers!

Which is what I did this day, wearing this black thick cotton shirt over the dress. I buttoned the top few buttons and left the rest open because I like the silhouette that it creates and I added my black moto boots for a little justaposition.

I felt like the neck area needed more detail so I tied my old silk hankie (my most worn accessory, I’m sure) and added my favorite preloved earrings.

I really loved how this came together. Apparently, I didn’t take a photo with a coat, but I worn my long vintage grey coat that I bought last month.

Comfort - 10/10; Style - 10/10; Fun - 10/10.

Tuesday

Oshkosh vintage quilted vest*, Glendalough Woolen Mills sweater*, Everlane pants*, Birkenstock clogs

I got these Brikenstock clogs for Christmas after having them on my wishlist for a couple of years. And although I liked them enough to keep them, I wasn’t 100% sure about them until this day because this was the first time that I was able to wear them out of the house (warm + dry enough).

I had put on my grey wool sweater and beloved black utility pants with a pair of black quilted winter booties to do school drop off, but I wanted something that felt a little more “stylish” for going out and these clogs (paired with a pair of cozy grey socks) ended up being perfect!

It was still warm out (considering I was in my car most of the time) so I just wore my quilted vest.

I added a silk hankie that I folded over to cover my neck (both because it adds warmth and I like how it looks) and a pair of simple silver hoops that my MIL gave me a few years ago.

Comfort - 10/10; Style - 10/10; Fun -8/10 - I didn’t try anything new with this outfit, instead relying on a combination that I’ve worn many times in the past.
