I love seeing your wardrobe, Gillian, so much fun to see which items move into storage and which ones stay out. Your quilted coat is amazing and is going to look great with a belt.💕
I just did my wardrobe swap over this past weekend, a massive job that took close to six hours. My post just went live, check it out. 💕
Oh, I’m so glad you liked it, Gillian! It’s a lot of work, but it makes me so happy to have this space of my own for creativity and to be surrounded by my comforting clothes.
I do a bit of hand-sewing (I can hem, fix seams/holes and sew buttons). A good skill to have!
I’m soo excited to make the full wardrobe switch. Temps highs are still going from 70 to 30 here day to day, so I’m not sure I’m ready. 🤣 Absolutely love that quilted jacket you made! A belt is the perfect solution to close it and keep it reversible.
That coat is the best thing ever, and I love the little jacket too! The cotton sweater looks great - I definitely need one for next year. It's getting warmer here in Italy, and the clocks just changed, so the mornings shouldn't be so cold now, but I'm not ready to swap out my heavy knits just yet! I'd like to hang on until the Easter vacation if I can.
Thanks Louise! It's definitely the thing I'm most proud of sewing! I'm looking forward to reading about how your wardrobe will be changing as it warms up :)
I'm only halfway through the piece, but before I forget, could hook and eye closures work for the quilted coat? It would keep that lovely scalloped detail on the edge without overlapping them, maybe 2-3 on the top half and keep the bottom half open?
I love how nerdy you are, Gillian, analysing your wardrobe :) Becoming intimate and really getting to know our closet is the only way to a style that feels like 2nd skin.
And just like Sigrid, in one of the other comments, since we both live in Copenhagen, also I have to keep a couple of winter only items in my closet as temperatures are only beginning to crawl above 10oC.
Haha, it's the engineer in me 😆 And I definitely agree and think that adding only a few items over the last 1.5 years has led to so much more wardrobe satisfaction and appreciation!
I'm looking forward to seeing how your wardrobe changes as it warms up, Ewelina!
I love the stories you shared about each piece -- that quilted coat is amazing. I keep all my clothes together as I think 70-80% are pretty much year-round: jeans, trousers, skirts, long and shot-sleeved cotton tees, shirts, the lighter merino wool jumpers, lightweight jackets (denim, cotton). Also I'm lazy! Doing a switchover is a lot of work by my standards, haha.
Haha it was definitely a lot of work and took up a large part of an afternoon with the cleaning as well 😅 And thank you, Lin - now that I'm so much more intentional with my wardrobe, I can remember the acquisition of every item, which is a far cry from my compulsive shopping days!
I’m still keeping my winter clothes around for now as the weather in April is notoriously unpredictable. I also mostly have packed away my true summer clothes, so the switch to spring is more gradual.
My wardrobe is mostly year round. I run hot, and live in a moderate climate so a sweater or long sleeves is enough most of the time. Everything lives together in my closet all year.
After a few warmer days we had cold weather again so havent made the switch yet. I always take it as an opportunity to reevaluate items so need both time and to be in the right frame of mind.

Thanks Sheila! Hoping to get that sewn up soon!
I loved reading about your wardrobe switchover - seeing your closet brought feelings of joy 💕

Yes, most definitely!!

Thanks Reiko! And I need to get onto making that belt before the time that I can wear the quilt coat is over!

That's a great idea, Claire! And so easy to remove if they don't work!

One fellow engineer to another ;)
Haha, you totally get it!

That's a good plan! The weather swings from cold to warm here, but we are done with the below freezing days, thankfully!

Ah, sweater weather year round is the literal dream!

That sounds like a great approach!
