The outfit diary series is a weekly series where I share every outfit that I’ve worn that week. My wardrobe is mostly secondhand, with some memade and new items as well. I have a small-ish wardrobe and I repeat items a lot! While I include the brands of the items that I’m wearing, I don’t include any links as it is never my intention to encourage shopping, just experimentation with your own wardrobe 🫶🏻
The first 3 outfits are available to everyone, while all 7 outfits + quarterly analyses newsletters are exclusive to paying members of the community.
If you are finding value in my newsletters and would like to support my work, you can become a paid member of the community for $5 per month (an annual subscription for $50 gets you 2 months free).
Outfit Rating System:
Comfort - Was I too hot or cold? Did it fit me properly? Did I have to adjust any of the items constantly?
Style - Did I feel stylish in the outfit? Did it feel like a “me” outfit, or was there something about it that was off?
Fun - Did I try something new? Was I really excited about the outfit, or was I bored by the outfit?
* denotes a secondhand item.
Sunday

I was just going for cozy and comfortable with this outfit! But I did add a couple of fun elements with the silver sneakers and purple jacket.
There’s something that felt “off” about the grey sweater under the purple jacket with the black pants but I can’t really put my finger on it. It didn’t bother me enough that I wanted to change and I couldn’t find another jacket that I wanted to wear. It all worked out in the end tho…
This week has been fairly cold and cloudy and Sunday was no exception. I had only intended to wear the suede jacket over the grey cashmere sweater but when we left to go out, I felt like my quilted vest would be a good addition. I actually think the navy vest looks better over the grey sweater, completely obscuring it!
I really love wearing purple, but I can’t help but think of Barney whenever I wear this coat. Perhaps I’ve said this in a previous newsletter but I call this my “Barney coat”.
Comfort - 10/10; Style - 9/10; Fun - 8/10 - something felt a little off with the purple/grey/black combo, even though it worked with the vest added in; I feel like I’ve worn this combo a million times, and while it’ll continue to be a go-to type of outfit, I wasn’t trying anything new.
Monday

This outfit felt like the perfect balance of smart and casual. I started with a base of a black tank top and a pair of black wool trousers. Then I added my charcoal wool cardigan that I buttoned at the top only. I added my cream colored sneakers to add a lighter element to the outfit. Lastly, I added a khaki wool jacket as it was a little chilly in the morning.
The wool items that I left in my spring capsule are really helping with the transitional weather that we’re having and I’m glad that I can get a few more wears out of them.
I pushed hair wash day off one day too long (because I was lazy on Sunday night) and I had to put it up in a ponytail. And I didn’t like it one bit. Which is really strange because this is one of my go-to hair styles in the summer. I guess I only like my hair up when it’s hot outside and I need it for warmth the rest of the year!
On the plus side, my earrings were visible and a lady a lady commented on them :)
Comfort - 10/10; Style - 10/10; Fun - 10/10 - the outfit gets a perfect score from me but I hated my hair with this outfit!
Tuesday
I’ve been thinking about these wool trousers a lot lately. Mostly about the fact that I haven’t worn them in a while so they were the first item that I grabbed this day. I hardly ever wear my silver boots unless I’m going to something special like a dinner (they’re basically my only dressier boot) but they were right below the pants in the wardrobe so I chose to wear them.
With 2 grey elements, I decided to just lean into the monochrome with a grey cashmere cardigan. This is actually one of the first cashmere items that I ever thrifted and it opened my eyes to how affordable cashmere could be in the secondhand market!
I’ve been going through some items in storage and I came across these 2 little necklaces that my daughter had removed from her room and sent to the basement. The pearl one had had charms that spelled out “SMILE” so I cut those off with wire cutters so that it was more wearable (my daughter was all for it). I love the combo, even with the silver earrings.
This was probably the coldest day of the week so I also wore my long wool coat. Honestly, even though it was colder, it felt like overkill so I tried this charcoal wool blazer when I got home and it felt so much better! Might be time to fully retire the wool coat to the basement!
Comfort - 10/10; Style - 10/10; Fun -10/10 - I don’t normally do a monochrome outfit (unless it’s black at least) and this felt fresh for me. I felt really great in this!
