The outfit diary series is a weekly series where I share every outfit that I’ve worn that week. My wardrobe is mostly secondhand, with some memade and new items as well. I have a small-ish wardrobe and I repeat items a lot! While I include the brands of the items that I’m wearing, I don’t include any links as it is never my intention to encourage shopping, just experimentation with your own wardrobe 🫶🏻
The first 3 outfits are available to everyone, while all 7 outfits + quarterly analyses newsletters are exclusive to paying members of the community.
If you are finding value in my newsletters and would like to support my work, you can become a paid member of the community for $5 per month (an annual subscription for $50 gets you 2 months free).
Outfit Rating System:
Comfort - Was I too hot or cold? Did it fit me properly? Did I have to adjust any of the items constantly?
Style - Did I feel stylish in the outfit? Did it feel like a “me” outfit, or was there something about it that was off?
Fun - Did I try something new? Was I really excited about the outfit, or was I bored by the outfit?
* denotes a secondhand item.

This is my daughter’s jacket. She bought it at a local shop after Christmas with some money from her grandparents. It’s a beautiful jacket that I think she’ll love for a lot of years. I’ll love it for a lot of years too.
It’s weird when your kids get big enough for you to share clothes with them!
This is the first time I’ve worn this jacket even though I’ve though about it a lot, but she’s been routinely taking things from my wardrobe since last Thanksgiving when she asked to wear my navy cashmere sweater (which I’ve since gifted to her as she wore it more than I ever did)! And I hardly ever see my silver sneakers anymore 😆
This day was a bit chilly but not too chilly - a pretty perfect spring day, really. I wanted to keep my outfit simple so I chose to wear a white tee and my new jeans with my light suede sneakers. The tan coat ended up being the perfect item to complete the outfit. I only had my phone and a lipgloss with me so I just put that in my pocket and I didn’t bother with a handbag.
I used to carry a handbag all the time but I very rarely do anymore. But maybe that’s just because it’s been winter and I’ve had lots of jacket pockets to use.

This patchwork jacket might be my favorite thing to wear right now! I’ve had it for 6-7 years and have barely worn it. I think that the reason was that I had a mostly dark wardrobe (clothing and shoes), and something always felt “off” when I tried to wear this cheerful item with more moody and sombre pieces. But I’ve made an effort this year to buy clothes in lighter colors and I think that’s been making it easier to wear this colorful jacket.
With this outfit, I think the lighter sneakers balance the jacket better than if I were wearing black boots. I’ve also been wearing this jacket with light wash jeans and that has felt like a better pairing.
It was too cold to just wear the patchwork jacket, so I added my purple suede jacket. I also added my new earrings that I bought yesterday. I normally try to buy my jewelry at antique stores but I’ve been looking for this kind of statement earring for a while with no luck! I saw these about a month ago and I finally decided that if they were still at the shop yesterday that I would get them. They were, so I did!
I think they’re stunning, but I do worry about the longevity of the posts - they are rather bendy and I fear that one will snap off before long. I’ll baby them as much as possible and if that does happen, I’ll take them to a jeweler to see if they can attach stronger posts. However, for future earring purchases, the strength of earring posts is something I’ll examine more closely.

Tuesday
I stared at this dress in my wardrobe, wondering why I haven’t been feeling a desire to wear it. It’s definitely at the top of the list of favorite things that I’ve ever sewn, but I don’t gravitate toward it.
So, maybe a little out of guilt, I decided to wear it. When I had bought these boots as my first low buy year purchase, I envisioned wearing them with this dress. I think that brown boots really complements the dress because the colors are “earthy” and there are also brown gridlines running throughout.
Maybe it just felt bare because it’s still chilly in the mornings but I wasn’t liking the dress/boot combo alone. I needed a third piece, and this green cardigan was one of the things that worked best with the dress.
And I actually really ended up enjoying this outfit. I think that maybe the solid cardigan “toned down” the louder print of the dress. I’ve come to realize that I prefer solid colors or small prints (stripe and checks mostly) and this dress doesn’t really fit into that.
WAIT a minute, did I just figure out why I’m not gravitating towards this dress?!? Note to self: stay away from large scale prints!
