I am really enjoying the direction of your outfits. I can appreciate outfits with trendy and statement pieces but your outfits are the ones that I really want to wear. You are right, outside validation and social media is messing with our personal style. When we stop chasing all of that and dress for ourselves we are much more content. I am glad you are at a point where the validation is not important.

In saying that, now it is the validation part of my comment. Love the red sweater with the grey pants. Adding the brown ballet flats and matching blanket is ideal. I am loving your cream tee, you are inspiring me to pull mine out and start trying it out to see if I like it any better. Love that the black, brown and cream colour combo is still bringing you joy, I think it looks great without fail. Maybe that is where I should start with my cream tee - I can see it paired with black jeans and brown ballet flats in my head, may be a winner?

Thanks so much, Rach! It's been nice to stop focusing on what others will think of my outfit and to focus more on what I think. I used to dress for myself in college, but I was a little more adventurous with my style, so there was also a lot of outside validation. Then I lost my style as a new mom. Then I let social media validation dictate my style, which started to feel performative. And now I finally feel like I'm finding my way back to me again. Why is getting dressed so complicated?!?

And thank you for suggesting that grey/red color combo - I loved it! I love that you're thinking more about styling your cream tee - I think the tee with black jeans and brown ballet flats would be perfect!

I keep thinking back to dressing how I wanted when at university too lately. I am finding myself yearning for that again. I always loved fashion magazines but never really had the money or the access to buy much. I pretty much had my form of a 'uniform' for every day, some gym stuff and a couple of outfits for going out that I used to swap around with my friends. Life was simple! Now with more disposable cash, social media and internet shopping I think my style got a bit lost along the way. Time to hark back to my younger days, I think.

You'd think that we'd be more sure of ourselves now but it seems like our younger selves had some stuff figured out and didn't even know it!

I spent last week camping with limited Wi-Fi. It was so nice to just tuck my phone away because I wasn’t going to have anything coming in unless I walked to the lodge to check. All that to say, I love your quiet morning routine. The noise can wait. Also, I think you’ve convinced me to get those ballet flats. I wonder if the red mesh is as good.

A week of camping with limited wi-fi sounds idyllic. I hope you are feeling quite relaxed and recharged! I'm really happy with them so far. I can't yet attest for their longevity but they are very comfortable and I think they look nice with so many things. The red mesh ones are so fun - are you able to try them in person?

There is a store that’s not too far. I think I may check to see if they have them in stock and then plan a trip.

Ooo, that’d be a fun field trip 😉. Please let me know if you try them and what you think!

Love that you dress for yourself and not for a reaction from others 💙 So often we can get caught up in how we are perceived and forget how we feel ourselves.

I love going through your week’s worth of outfits with you, thank you! Too bad about the white shoes! I use little silicon toe-tubes for footwear that rubs my toes, but can’t help ya with the numbness. We lose fat in our feet during peri/menopause, and that can cause or exacerbate foot pain from shoes that used to be okay.

Love the Saturday morning dress, your tradition with your daughter (aww), and seeing your kitties lounging behind you (I miss my cat).

Thanks Sheila! You’re the sweetest!

I don’t think there’d be any more room to add anything in these shoes, but I might try just wrapping the 2 toes to see if that helps and also to see if the numbness happens again! Thanks for those insights - peri/menopause is fun, right?!? 😆

Saturday’s are the absolute best! I’m so sorry about your kitty’s passing - it’s so hard to lose them 💕
